Federal NDP Leader Jack Layton lost his battle with cancer as he passed away earlier this morning. He was 61.

Perhaps with the full knowledge that he may not have much time left, he wrote a final letter to Canadians, which his family released soon after the announcement of his death. Go here to read the letter.
